Emma Watson - HeForShe - UN Women - AWARD 2021

*** AWARD 2021 ***

Emma Watson is a British actress and activist. She achieved international fame at a very young age, thanks to her role as Hermione in the world-famous Harry Potter saga. Subsequently, she fully diversified her roles and acting talents: she played a costume designer in the film My Week with Marilyn (2011), she was in the films Charlie's World (2012), The Bling Ring (2013), Noah (2014), Colonia (2015), The Circle (2017). Today she is also famous for her portrayal of the famous princess Belle in Disney's "live action" Beauty and the Beast (2017), and for her role as Meg, one of the daughters of Dr. March in the film Little Women (2019).

Alongside her acting career, she is a very committed woman, especially for the cause of women. In 2014, she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador by the UN Women. In the same year, she was noticed for her speech at the United Nations headquarters in New York, in which she called on men and women to make gender equality a priority. She approaches feminism with a positive attitude that seeks to emphasize mutual support and respect between the sexes, not hatred against men.

Emma Watson is also very interested in the education of young girls around the world. Her travels include Bangladesh, Zambia and, in September 2015, Uruguay, as a UN Goodwill Ambassador to encourage women to take part in the political life of their country. She would later be named a "feminist celebrity" by the Ms. Foundation for Women.
In 2015, she was named one of the 100 most influential people of the year by Time, and she was named "Most Outstanding Woman of the Year" by AskMen magazine.

She also participates in the solidarity campaign "HeForShe" launched by UN Women for gender equality. To this end, she organized a question and answer session with her fans on March 8, 2015, in honor of International Women's Day.

In 2016, she opened a feminist book club, "Our Shared Shelf," on the digital platform Goodreads. She is joined by several celebrities such as Sophia Bush, Gloria Steinem, Abby Wambach or Kate Voegele and over 37 thousand anonymous.

Emma Watson is also committed to fair trade and sustainable development. In 2010, she released a line of clothing for teenagers "Love from Emma", in collaboration with Safia Minney, the founder of People Tree. She supports, in a totally disinterested way (without any remuneration) the values of this brand, whose products are organically grown and sold in compliance with fair trade. In 2013, she was elected "Woman of the Year" by GQ magazine. In 2011, she won the "ELLE Style icon", awarded by ELLE magazine, and in 2017 she was named "Inspirational Woman of the Year". She is also, since June 2020, a member of the board of directors of French luxury group Kering.
