The Queen's Gambit is an American miniseries, adapted from the novel of the same name by Walter Tevis (1983). The series follows the life of Elizabeth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy), an orphan and young chess prodigy. A victim of drug and alcohol addiction and emotional problems from an early age, she struggles to make a place for herself in a predominantly male world and to become the greatest chess player in the world.
