The Wizards of Waverly Place is an American fantasy/humor series. It tells the story of the Russo's, a family of witches: Jerry Russo, the father, a former wizard who gave up his powers to marry a mortal; Theresa, his wife; and their three children: Justin, the eldest in the family; Alex, the series' heroine, a rebellious school dropout; and Max, the younger brother. The children have inherited their father's powers and are learning.
Selena Gomez is an American singer, actress and producer. She made her acting debut in the series Barney & Friends in 2002, then became known to the general public in 2007 when she landed the role of Alex Russo in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. She then went on to play a series of film roles in movies and TV movies such as Cinderella 2 (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), Welcome to Monte Carlo (2011), Getaway (2013) and The Fundamentals of Caring (2016). She also lends her voice to the character of Mavis in the two parts of the animated film Hotel Transylvania (2012 and 2015).
On the music side, she formed her band "Selena Gomez and the Scene" in 2008 with which she released 3 albums, in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The group dissolved in 2012. One year later, Selena released her first solo album "Stars Dance", with the label Hollywood Records: it reached the first place of the American Billboard 200 chart. She released a second solo album in 2015, "Revival", with Interscope Records, and then followed the next years several artistic collaborations, with Charlie Puth, Marshmello, Ozuna, or Cardi B and DJ Snake. In 2020, she released a third solo album, "Rare". Her musical career in a few figures: 7 million albums sold, 22 million singles, 5 tours and more than 20 notable awards.
In parallel, she also launched her clothing line "Dream Out Loud" in 2011, in collaboration with Kmart, then a collection of handbags called "Selena Grace" designed with the luxury brand Coach.
Selena is also, since 2009, goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.
