Borgen is a Danish series. It portrays the rise to power of a centrist with integrity, against a backdrop of political intrigue, and exposes the workings of Danish democracy. Birgitte Nyborg, a woman of strong character and leader of the Centrist Party, becomes Prime Minister. Once in office, how far will she go to stay in power? How can she reconcile her professional and personal life with her political ideals and sacrifices?

Sidse Babett Knudsen is a Danish actress. She studied for six years at the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theatre and Mime and at the School of the Shadow Theatre in Paris. Back in Denmark, she went on stage in the play Peer Gynt, created by one of her friends. She did several plays before finally landing her first film role in the movie Let's Get Lost in 1997.
Recognized by the critics, this improv comedy won her the Robert Award and the Bodil Award (equivalent of the Césars) for Best Actress. Her fame crosses borders in 2006 when she participates in the film After the Wedding, but the consecration comes only in 2010 when she lands the lead role in the series Borgen which has a wide critical and public success internationally. This success and her fluency in French and English opened the doors of British and French cinema. In 2014, she has the lead role in the film The Duke of Burgundy, then she shares the poster of L'Hermine with Fabrice Luchini in 2015. This film will earn her the Cesar for "Best Supporting Actress". In 2016, she shared the screen with Tom Hanks in the thriller Inferno and then joined the cast of the series Westworld on HBO.
